Trip to Sydney

Oh my goodness! What a trip! We had an appointment to meet the immigration officer on Friday at 3pm. We had to take the train to Sydney which takes about 3 hours. We decided to spend the night in Sydney with Nikki, Daniel's mother, so we ended up taking everything with us...including Adeline's bed and car seat...while walking all through Sydney! It was crazy! Everyone was laughing at us and staring as you can see from the picture above...Daniel was loaded down!

The immigration officer laughed when we got there asking us if we were moving in and oh well, you forgot the kitchen sink. Well, Thursday night we realized that part of the train was closed. That meant that we had to transfer off the train to a bus and then back on the train. It was pretty miserable. But Adeline was a beauty! She never cried or whined all day and went until 5pm until she finally fell asleep. We have to best baby!

Anyway, the meeting went very well. After we get a few things in to the officer it will take about one month! That is great considering we thought it was going to take up to 6 months. We were very pleased with the results!

So Saturday was a pretty lazy day. It was Daniel's Aunts birthday so we headed out to her house for a birthday celebration and then we went off to the beach. Sunday, John, Adeline and I went to the beach to try and get Adeline a little more familiar. She did wonderfully! I was so happy, she finally got immersed in the sand without even a whine!
Oh and by the way, here is a picture of the kangaroo and Adeline that I was promising and a picture of Wendy, Johns girlfriend!

I love you all and miss you!

Another day at the beach!

Well it was another great weekend with friends and family. On Saturday we went to church and I was able to meet some of Daniels' friends from school. It was great to catch up with people the knew Daniel and all the ladies were very friendly. I am very excited to have made some friends and arrange play dates for Adeline.
After church Daniel and I went to Catherine Hill Bay Beach. Of course Adeline hated every minute of it, but Daniel and I had a good time searching for sea shells, finding sponges and examining the blue jellyfish that washed upon shore. YIKES!

After the beach we headed out to Avondale and Daniel gave me a tour of the Adventist college. It wasn't as beautiful as Newcastle University where Daniel went to college but we saw lots of interesting creatures on the campus....including a possum! They are a lot cuter than the opossums in America!
Not to much else exciting this weekend. But this Friday we are taking a trip to Sydney for our appointment with the Australian Embassy! Wish us luck and hopefully there will be some fun pictures of Sydney!

A Little bit of Oz

This weekend was great! Friday was pretty nasty with the rain and everything, so we pretty much stayed in the car most of the day seeing sights. Saturday we went to church and then over to Daniel's Aunts house for lunch. Everyone was so excited to meet me and Adeline. Nikki had all sorts of toys for Adeline and all sorts of Australian guide books for me. I have been reading up on a "survival guide" and "The deadly snakes and reptiles of Australia". Yikes!! Adeline may never feel the grass on her toes again!

Sunday we went to the beach with Andrew and his girlfriend Kim. We all had such a good time and the beach was beautiful! I can't believe I live by the beach! How exciting! Adeline didn't like it so much. We took her shoes off and her pants and thought she would enjoy running around with all the other kids but she was not too excited about how the sand felt on her feet. I am going to have to ease her into it. At least I know she isn't going to run into the water without me!!

But the most exciting part of the weekend was feeding the kangaroos!!! At dusk in a park not to far away from the house about 50-60 kangaroos come out to feed. Most of the locals come out and feed them so they are really used to people. They came right up to us! It was great! Adeline had a ball. She kept yelling and screaming everytime she saw them hop away. It was precious.

So it was a great weekend and I can't wait to see what in store next!

Caught in the rain

It was another beautiful day today so I thought Adeline would enjoy a walk down to the shops which is about 5 minutes away. It was midday and there were so many people there. We had a good time walking around through the shops and checking out all the things we are going to spend Daniel's money on! Hahahaha! I was able to snap a few pictures of Adeline on our walk in front of the park and up the street.

Bad thing was on the way home we got caught in the rain and Adeline laughed and loved that her mommy was getting all wet! What a priceless moment to here my sweet little girl laughing in the rain. I loved every bit of it!

It's a perfect day!

We have arrived!

Good'ay Mates!

We have finally made it! We arrived on February 4th in Sydney. The Sekulic men all came to get Adeline and I at the airport and it was so wonderful to see Daniel! I suppose I hadn't really realized just how much I missed him until I saw him. There was so much to get done back in the US that I don't think I had time to miss him. But when I saw him waiting for us all those emotions came rushing forward and wow what a feeling of joy and happiness to see him again. Adeline was a little in awe. She went straight to him with no problem and it's like they have picked up where they left off. She cuddles him and snuggles him as if he never left. It's so precious!

Newcastle is beautiful!! Daniel's dad, John, has a bird house in the backyard and last night he took Adeline down there to feed the parrots...yes, parrots! They are so colorful. Blue and green and yellow...Adeline loved it and has been staring out the door wanting to see them again. Too cute! There are tons of trees and everything is very green from all the rain they have been having. The house Daniel and his dad have is older but very nice. It hasn't taken Adeline and I long to feel right at home!

So as I said above it's been really rainy here. But right now the sun has decided to come out and all I see is blue skies! Adeline and I took a walk this morning and got to see all the kids headed to school. Everyone I passed was very nice and they all say hello and goodmorning.

I am very excited about our new adventures in Australia! I miss you all but am looking forward to our new life here!
